KEL - Lezha Ecological Club is established in 1997 as an Albanian NGO, dealing primarily with Natural Resource Management, Preparation and Delivery of various Training Courses, Provision of Technical Assistance, and Preparation/Implementation of projects oriented to Natural Resources. Considering the need for information flow in the field of Natural Resources, Agriculture, Tourism, Environment, and the potential of KEL members to contribute in this field, based on its own initiative, KEL started to publish the newspaper “Kurora e Lezhes” (Lezha’s Crown”). This was KELs initial attempt to publicly address concerns related to natural resources. The newspaper initially was supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded project Albanian Private Forestry Development Program (APFDP), covering at first only Lezha’s audience. Later on, (by the end of 1999), based on the need to divulge this type of information toward other areas of the country, “Kurora e Lezhes” was distributed in every district of Albania. Due to increase of the number and size of the covered area, the name “Kurora e Lezhes” changed to a more meaningful one: “Kurora e Gjelber” (”Green Crown”). Currently, “Green Crown” is published in more than 1,000 copies, comprised of five sections:
